Upgrade

This section explains how to upgrade the MailDesk module to a newer version.

The upgrade process depends on your hosting environment and how your Odoo system is managed.

For this reason, upgrade instructions are separated into Odoo.sh and Self-hosted guides.

Before you upgrade

Before upgrading MailDesk, always make sure that:

• A full database backup exists.

• The upgrade is tested on a development or staging environment first.

• You understand whether the new version introduces changes to Python dependencies or configuration.

Skipping these steps may result in service interruptions or unexpected behavior.

How to use this section

1. Choose the upgrade guide that matches your hosting environment:

   • Odoo.sh → upgrade via Git and Odoo.sh builds.

   • Self-hosted → upgrade via file replacement and module update.

2. Follow the steps in the correct order.

3. Verify the system after the upgrade before using it in production.

⚠️ Never upgrade a production system without testing the upgrade on a non-production environment first.
