AI Assistant

The AI Assistant brings large language models into your daily mail workflow inside Odoo. It is the headline addition in MailDesk Pro β€” three operations you can run from any email, with your choice of provider.

No data leaves your Odoo instance except for the specific email text you ask the AI to process. Keys are administered centrally; you can opt for a self-hosted provider so that nothing leaves your infrastructure at all.


What the AI Assistant does

  • Summarize an email thread β€” generate a clean summary of a long back-and-forth conversation

  • Draft a reply β€” produce a context-aware reply you can review and edit before sending

  • Security scan β€” flag suspicious emails (phishing, malware indicators) with a structured assessment

Each operation is opened with a click from an email; there is no batch / auto-trigger behaviour unless you explicitly configure it.


Supported AI providers

  • OpenAI β€” GPT-4o and successors

  • Anthropic Claude β€” Claude 3 family

  • Google Gemini β€” Gemini 1.5 and successors

  • xAI Grok

  • DeepSeek

  • Custom / self-hosted β€” any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, such as a local Ollama server or your own deployment

You can configure a different provider per operation β€” for example, your default for Summarize and Draft, and a dedicated provider for Security scan.


Privacy summary

Only the email content you explicitly ask the AI to process is sent to the provider. Attachments are not sent. Other emails in your mailbox are not sent. Keys are stored centrally by your administrator.

For self-hosted provider configurations, no data ever leaves your infrastructure.

Who can use the AI Assistant?

Anyone with access to a mailbox in MailDesk Pro can use the AI operations on emails in that mailbox. Setting up API keys and choosing providers is an administrator action; once a provider is configured, all mailbox users can use it.
