What does Email Editor add on top of the Email Builder?

Email Editor not only extends the mail.template model with the Mass-Mailing designer (like Email Builder does), it also extends the *Mail Compose Wizard* model ( mail.compose.message ). So you can design ad-hoc emails — not just templates — through the drag-and-drop designer. Which fields are added to mail.template?

Three fields: body_arch (HTML, sanitize=False , translate=False ), email_editor (boolean, toggles the designer on/off) and the computed mailing_model_id (Many2one to ir.model ) that passes the recipients model down to the snippets. How is the recipient context detected by the designer?

The wizard uses the model field (model name as Char) rather than model_id . Email Editor resolves the name to a model ID through self.env['ir.model']._get_id(record.model) and surfaces the matching dynamic placeholders in the designer. Is the HTML sanitized on save?

*No*, neither on the template nor in the compose wizard. Both body_arch / body_html fields are declared with sanitize=False and translate=False so that complex Mass-Mailing snippets, custom CSS and table layouts survive untouched.
