Which AI providers are supported for email security and the GPT assistant?

Six providers are configurable out of the box:
*OpenAI* — default: gpt-4o (alternatives: gpt-4o-mini , gpt-4.1 , gpt-4.1-mini ) *Google Gemini* — default: gemini-2.5-flash  *Anthropic Claude* — default: claude-sonnet-4-6  *xAI Grok* — default: grok-4.20-0309-non-reasoning  *DeepSeek* — default: deepseek-chat  *Custom / Local Server* — your own endpoint (e.g. self-hosted LLM)  You can configure multiple slots and activate exactly one. Bring your own API keys — data stays under your control.

Are email contents sent to the AI provider?

Accepted Answer

Yes — when you actively trigger an AI feature (threat scan, summary, reply suggestion), the relevant email content is sent to the AI provider you configured. *You control the provider yourself* (your own API keys, your own account) — there is no Metzler IT proxy. For maximum data sovereignty you can pick /Custom / Local Server/ (e.g. an LLM hosted inside your own network).

How does two-way synchronization actually work?

Actions you take in Odoo (flag a message, move to folder, delete) are pushed back to the mail server through the provider-specific adapter: *IMAP* via UID-based STORE/COPY/EXPUNGE commands, *Gmail* via label operations through the Gmail API, *Outlook* via Microsoft Graph PATCH requests. A web mail client (e.g. Outlook Web) or your phone's mail app sees the same state.

Do I need MailDesk Basic alongside MailDesk Ultimate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MailDesk Ultimate is an *extension* of MailDesk Basic, not a standalone product. When you install Ultimate, Basic is pulled in automatically as a dependency. You pay for Ultimate but get the Basic components included — they are a technical prerequisite.

How does phishing detection work?

Each incoming message can trigger an AI scan (optional, switchable). The configured LLM provider examines headers, sender domain, link targets and message text for known phishing patterns and returns a risk signal shown as a badge in the inbox. The risk threshold and the active provider are controlled in MailDesk settings.

What does the priority support for Ultimate customers cover?

Accepted Answer

Ultimate customers get direct access to the *Metzler IT support channel* for MailDesk-specific questions: configuration help (OAuth setup, IMAP server, Outlook Graph), sync diagnostics, Mailcow integration recommendations, and bug reports with faster response time. Pure Odoo issues (not MailDesk-specific) are a separate consulting scope.
