Which Odoo Sales documents can be linked to a MailDesk email?

Quotations (state=draft / sent) and confirmed Sales Orders (state=sale / done). Each MailDesk message can link to *multiple* sales documents, but exactly *one* is marked as primary so reports stay deterministic. Cancelled orders are filtered out of the selector by default.

How is the link stored — to the order, the partner, or the message?

Always to the *message_index.id* (the MailDesk SSOT). Provider-specific IDs, folder UIDs, and partner references are never used as link anchors. This means re-syncing the mailbox does not break links, and moving a thread between mailboxes preserves all sales linkage.

Can I disable Sales integration on a single mailbox?

Yes. The Sales Integration is enabled per maildesk.mailbox.account via a single boolean flag. A support-only mailbox can stay on Helpdesk-only linking; a sales inbox enables Sales-only; teams sharing one inbox enable both. Disabling at any time is non-destructive — existing links remain queryable but hidden in the sales panel.

Does the integration auto-link emails to existing quotations?

Yes, when the sender or recipient matches a partner that already has open quotations. The wizard suggests the most recent matching document and lets the user accept or pick a different one. Auto-link can be disabled per mailbox for teams that prefer manual linkage only.

How are linked emails displayed on the sale.order form?

The Sales Order form gets an additional *MailDesk Thread* stat-button showing the linked thread count. Clicking it opens the MailDesk message detail in a side-pane, with reply / forward / archive controls preserved. The salesperson never has to leave the order view to handle related correspondence.

Are link operations transactional?

Yes. Every link/unlink wraps in the same Odoo cursor as the email panel update, so a failed write rolls back both the link and any panel state change. The maildesk.sales.link.execution log records every operation with its outcome so a re-run of a failed wizard is idempotent.

Which permissions are needed to link an email to a sales order?

Read access on sale.order and at least write access on the originating maildesk.message_index record (which is determined by mailbox membership). Users without sale.order read access see no MailDesk-Sales panel at all — the integration silently falls back to email-only mode.

Will the integration affect existing sale.order workflows?

No. The integration is read-mostly: it adds a stat-button + a side-panel; it does not change state transitions, confirmation logic, invoice flow, or any standard Odoo Sales behaviour. The new fields ( maildesk_message_link_ids ) are non-stored Many2many references and have no impact on existing reports.
