Connect Gmail
This guide explains how to connect a Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox to MailDesk correctly.
MailDesk uses OAuth 2.0 and the Gmail API — not classic IMAP — for secure access and efficient synchronization.
However, Gmail access alone is not enough: incoming and outgoing servers and folders must still be configured.
When should you use this guide?
Use this guide if you use:
Gmail (@gmail.com)
Google Workspace (@your-company.com hosted on Google)
⚠️ Using Gmail via IMAP is technically possible, but OAuth is strongly recommended.
Before you start
Create the incoming and the outgoing servers depending on the method you choose (IMAP or OAuth (recommended)) using the instructions.

Connect Gmail
1. Go to MailBox Accounts

2. Click New
3. Add Account Data

3.2 Choose you incoing and outgoing servers you preveously created from the list
3.3 Click - Test Incoming Server
3.4 Click - Test Outgoing Server
3.5 Click - Fetch Folders
Congrats! You connected your gmail mailbox!
⚡ Performance Benefit: History API
By using Gmail OAuth (API mode), MailDesk utilizes the Gmail History API. This allows for near-instant incremental synchronization of your emails. Changes appear in Odoo significantly faster than with traditional IMAP.
